Default Levelling up imperial phoenix

Hey, I tried the pet death levelling guide outlined on wiki, however, when I agrroed my phoenix in the menagerie, it didn't attack me. So does this mean I must level it up normally? If so, can anyone give me some tips to make the levelling process faster?

The spawned pets attack you when you try to charm them.

If its name turns red, you'll able to death-level it. It doesn't need to attack you. (you can use a Vampiric Weapon or Sacrificial spell to kill yourself)

As far as a quick way to level outside of death leveling... just go do a few VQ's.
Let it die. They will still get XP while dead.
This is particularly easy in the Desolation, while you and your heroes are in wurms.

Note: This will likely leave the pet unevolved at L20 (Tier 6), but you can then grab a L15 Dire/Hearty (tier 5) version of the pet, and use the same technique to get it up to L20 Dire/Hearty (tier 7).

Or just go turn it in at the Menagerie. Then go to Jade Quarry and earn 10,000 Balthazar Faction. This will be enough for a complete level up in the Menagerie. For me trade off of fun and time, this method wins.

As long as the pet's name is highlighted red, it will gain experience from your death... even if it is not attacking you. Just bring a few heroes with Unyielding Aura and get yourself down to the lowest amount of Health possible and wield a vampiric weapon. After the first few deaths it will only take a few seconds to die and the pet will level up quite quickly.

Just talk to helena and spend some balthazar faction and woops your phoenix is max level. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Helen...shen_Keeper%29

If you don't have enough balthazarfactions then run zaishen elite; 6k in 20 mins (when you've found a team). http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Zaishen_Elite if you need a build: http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Team_-_Ba...aishen_Trapper

Huh? How does this work if you turn it in at the menagerie before getting the faction? Please can you explain this method in more detail, as I'd be interested in using it.

The problem is my toon is a warrior, and so i must have ranger as secondary prof, so i cannot use any spells to speed it up.

This is what I used to death level pets: http://www.gwpvx.com/User:Elephantal...ld:Team_-_FPDL

Once you get it set up, you can afk for about 15-20 minutes and you're done. You can create or use a PVP char. to do this by the way, or, since it's not a Rainbow Phoenix, you can bring Charm Animal on a hero.

As to your first question, once you turn in the pet, you can talk to Helena in the Menagerie to use Balthazar Faction (or Zcoins, not a good use of them though) to level up the pet.
